I guess you have to start sometime.....right?
5.4 is a good runner. You will do fine.

My wife and I love to camp at Hidden Valley Camp Ground outside of Deadwood. (Hidden Valley Campground) They are very accommodating. Privately owned by a very nice couple, very clean, beautiful scenery and a creak that flows all around it. Love it there!

Thanks to all of you for sharing your "expertise" of the area. I'm a bit nervous about towing a 30ft trailer though, especially hitting the mountains.

Thanks again.

Lock it out of overdrive. Downshift on the long grades... The worst for me in a truck involved me a 1957 chevrolet water truck and a long grade... I knew I was screwed when I had to be be in first gear low at the base of the hill. And sure enough I was.

I would setup with Rushmore shadows or something along those lines. Drop trailer and enjoy.

I may be wrong but I don't think you're going to get full hook-ups at a South Dakota State Park. Most of them only have shore power.

They have electric, no water/sewer hookups, but they do have water in the parks that you can fill with. I found that strange, electric, but no water.

The electric is something fairly new - around the last 5-10 years or so, I think. Used to be that you didn't get that, either. Some places, you still don't!
