The Emergency Operation Center has established a call center for residents with further questions. The Call center number is 773-3231 and will be operational from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily through the foreseeable future.
Be safe out there, have a plan in place, and know what you will do for water should the water tx. plant flood.

Have several friends that I am concerned about. My old house was up on the hill. My sister's place is safe as well. The pictures are dramatic.

Those pictures with flows of 88,000 cf/s flows. They are talking upwards of 110,000 cf/s or more. And high water levels for an extended period of time.

Yes, the Yellowstone is running very high and the snowmelt from the Rockies won't even impact until July. It could be well into the heat of summer if people have to leave their homes before the water recedes.

What could happen further downstream? Would Chamberlain see the same thing as the water continues to rise from this upstream flooding in Pierre/Ft. Pierre?

On the other end, there have been flood warnings this week for the Mississippi River at St. Louis. If this causes the Missouri to begin backing up at St. Louis where it dumps into the Mississippi things could get nasty in my state very quickly. Water being released from upstream and backing up downstream. Meanwhile our severe weather continues to feed the Mighty Missouri.

Default USGS Flood tracking charts

You may track the USGS river and stream gauges at the link below:

USGS Flood Tracking Charts for North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota

There is a real time function which will allow you to see a graph of the water levels for an individual gauge x 7 days.
