Need a pet-friendly apt in Brookings (Volga: apartments, rentals, mobile home)

Hello all,

I just thought I'd put this out there. I am having trouble finding a pet friendly (2 fixed, adult cats) apartment/house in Brookings. I am moving from Illinois in August. I check craigslist daily and have even posted in the "Housing Wanted" section. I have called several complexes but the few that do accept pets are FAR out of my price range (I need $600 rent or less). I am not looking for a place to split with room mates as I am bringing my child with me. I also don't need to be close to campus.

If anyone has any leads or knows anyone who rents reasonable, pet friendly apartments/house it would help me a lot. Thank you!

Problem with Brookings, is the housing and rental markets are still somewhat tight, though not as bad as about 4-5 years ago. I don't know of any pet friendly place off the top of my head. But I can take a look at the local yellow paper when it comes and search through all the ads to see what I can find.

You may be able to find used older mobile homes (to rent, or buy) that accept pets, for not that much money.

Mills Property Management, Apartment Homes - Sunny Meadows is in Volga (5 minutes from Brookings) and one option.

You can also call the weekly free paper, The Town & Country Shopper (info and phone number can be found here: Town & Country Shopper, Brookings SD 57006 -- MerchantCircle.com)
Ask them to mail you last week and even the week before's paper.. there are LOTS of housing rentals listed in there. Some specify "no pet", a few will say "pet allowed" but most don't say at all so you have to call.

Are you moving to Brookings for work? Maybe they have some insight as well, if so..
