Has anyone in the forum ever taken any classes at South Dakota State University? If so what did you think about the professors and the school? I was going to take a graduate class for elementary education.

It's in Brookings. I've been to the campus, but know very little about it.

I was just in So Dakota last week and drove through Brookings. I have to say compared to a lot of towns, it is actually a very nice looking place. The main road actually has trees and it not all packed with businesses, which to me, makes a lot of town appear very ugly.

monica-cam-

I have many friends who go to and will be going to Brookings for school. They say it is a great school that is in a nice, small setting and is only 45 mins from Sioux Falls and city life.

One warning though... if you are a heavy "party animal", I have heard, that partys are broken up very often and that there is only one liquor store in town and it is owned by the University itself!

Hopefully that is not the main reason you are in school and it does not apply to you! Hahaha!

The liquor store in Brookings IS NOT owned by the University - (the university is dry) - it is owned by the city of Brookings.

Of course very often parties are broken up - never stopped us - you moved to the next house party very few tickets are ever given when a party is busted as there are usually 100 plus people in attendance.

Also just FYI Aurora and a small store right outside Brookings city limits also sell beer so not really an issue to buy on a Sunday if you choose, as it is not allowed in Brookings city limits
