I was raised on a dairy farm in Michigan. I really miss farm living. I didn't realize that it was hard work and how much I loved it intil got older and looked back at it.

Awww, they are so cute!!!
Well, ya'll, I'm finally HERE. Flew in to the RC airport (Why didn't ya'll TELL me it was a prop job?? Way Kewl!!LOL) and Sautrday went to the Mammoth Site. It was clear and sunny when we left the motel...

(If you clik on the pics you can see them as larger, I guess - I tried attaching them larger but I got chastized! Grin)
We spent about two hours in there, and when we came out... it had started to snow!
Fortunately Drew, the nice young man at the rental car company, had encouraged me to get the 4WD Highlander, so we didn't have much of a problem, but it was still different. No one in the car had seen snow for a very long time, so this was pretty kewl, too!
Then, while driving thru the park, we saw a buffalo. We couldn't miss him - he was standing right next to the road!!!
We went to the Firehouse Restaurant in downtown RC; had a good time.
Sunday we went to Mt Rushmore and Keystone, Monday to Wall Drug and the Badlands... - but that's a whole 'nother story! We are having a blast!

Axle, welcome to the forum and I hope you can come to visit our state.
SC, glad to hear you're having a nice time there and I'm so glad you posted pics. Would you consider doing a follow-up thread on the things you liked or disliked about your trip? I know you're busy now, but I'd love to read the way you feel about things since you live so far away.

OMGoodness, you want landscapes???
LOL I've taken over 400 pictures in the last 3 days... mostly landscapes!!!
Sure Jammie, I can do that. I haven't found too many dislikes, though... Almost everyone has been helpful and friendly. Even when my daughter's luggage disappeared and didn't arrive til the next day, everyone was all about making sure she was ok, giving her basic stuff, keeping her posted, etc. Met a fella at breakfast the first morning - his son is a 15 YOA bronc rider and he showed me his cel phone with the pictures of him winning the tournament - so kewl...
Anyway, Saturday we went South to Hot Springs in the Black Hills to the Mammoth site; the snowy pictures are from the drive back, down thru Custer State Park. Then Monday we went East to the Badlands past Wall; the rugged pics are from there, just to help you orient. Funny - Snowed like crazy in the Black Hills; but you couldn't tell a thing up in Rapid City!!!

That's how it usually is! Seems like Rapid City has its own climate; could be 30 degrees and blowing snow up in the hills while its 65 and sunny down in Rapid City. I bet you saw more snow on your trip than I've seen in a month!
