Thanks in advance for any pictures or information you might have. One more question...there used to be a museum across from the Capital and my friend and I walked through a tunnel under the street from the museum to the Capital. Is it still there?
Please post some pic's and information on the parts of town that has changed the least, or the most.

I left my home town in MI. in 1969. I didn't go back to visit because I wanted to remember it the way it was. It was a small Farming/Logging town.
Finally, I went back in 2004 and the town hardly changed at all.

Pierre Bound is on a distinguished road
Thanks for the picture references. I have a few left from when we lived there. I remember the Corner Drug Store, the movie theater and some of the downtown. I attended Lincoln Elementary School until we moved when I was in the 4th grade. My dad worked on the Oahe Damn. We lived at Bridgeview Trailer Park and Riggs Trailer Park. Both of my older brothers have been back to Pierre and I understand from them that these trailer parks are no longer there. My friend and I walked all over Pierre when we lived there. Those were the good old days when parents could let their children do that!! I read in one of the earlier posts about the "Crazy Days" that they still have in downtown Pierre. I remember my mother dressing me up for that!! this was probably around 1957 or 1958...anyway...I could go on and on...I have many fond memories of my years in Pierre.

I live in Piere. Yes bridgeview is not some really nice houses, Riggs same thing. Lincoln School is gone, there is a park there and some retirement apartments.

Must stop for you is the Cultural Heritage Center up the road from the Capitol. I think they still do tours of the Oahe power plant.

Pierre is still a walking community. Hilgers Gulch is a good walk, and the is the where I took the picture of the Capitol. There is a nice walking path along the river too.

rjl78, thanks for the information. I see you are a night owl also. Have you lived in Pierre long? I'll get back with " y'all " later, I've got to get some sleep if I want to stay awake at work.

Who wants to stay awake at work?

I have lived in Pierre for 9 years. The old D&E is gone closed down about 7 years ago and the building blew down in a storm about 6 years ago.

I've been meaning to post photos here and with the leaves changing colours, from what I hear, Spearfish Canyon is quite lovely. These were shot last Autumn in the Canyon.

Bridal Veil Falls:

RoughLock Falls:

This was shot in a wee park area in the RoughLock area...I rather like how it turned out

Any reports on leaves changing colors?

Leaves in Rapid City have started to change a lot so I'm hoping the ones up by Spearfish are too. I love it when you get the maroons and purples in too. It's beautiful!!!

I'll be driving through Spearfish Canyon next Saturday so hopefully they will have changed by then.
