Snow and Kbear - you both (like the rest of those who posted on this thread) did a fantastic job with the pictures. Snow, I can absolutely not wait to get to RC for our visit - just awesome shots. I absolutely love the way you captured the shot of Mt. Rushmore. Was the lake Pactola? Kbear - I know the scenery is different in SF, but you captured some awesome shots as well. Hubby and I are just shocked at how clean and neat SF is. I have not seen streets that clean in ten years. Absolutely loving the architecture in many of your shots.
This isn't for anyone in particular (except hubby), but I cannot wait to get the heck out of where I live. Either city looks like a winner - I can almost smell the clean air now. And, the beauty is that wherever we get our jobs, the other city is only 5 hours away .
My thanks to you both for those pics.

Very nice pics, Kbear, thank you for sharing them with us. It's familiar area to me cause I just love the Sculpture walk. Such a pretty area.
Snowy, very nice Hills pics. Are the first few pics in Spearfish Canyon? It's my fave place over there.
AJ, I'm glad you like the scenery here. Very different on each end of the state, but beautiful no matter which you prefer. I do understand what you're saying about the clean streets and I've heard people who get disappointed in the garbage and clutter in some areas of the country. Fortunately, you won't find much of that here no matter which city you choose.

Jammie - fantastic news. I think the bottom line is that you all seem to me to be a group of people who care for your homes/apartments and yourselves and your families. You get a lot of people doing that and then you have a great community that cares for their surroundings because they take pride in them. That is why this is one of my favorite threads in the SD forum. I swear you could eat off those streets in SF. Plus, seeing trees of RC without graffiti (yes sadly, nature is not off limits here where I currently live) is just refreshing. Are we there yet????

I am beyond excited for when we are finally there for visit #1. We plan to move to SD and the city will be determined by jobs. I can't thank you and Snow enough for those awesome recent pictures. I need a huge break from what we're doing here (getting house ready for a sale, interviewing realtors, calling the city for various reasons). I want to hike, I would dearly love to be cold (we're at 103 today) and I want to see water!!! Thanks again - we're pumped.

Here are some random pics I've taken in and around the Black Hills area over the last several months.
Spearfish Canyon, Fall 2009:
Bridal Veil Falls
Stream and fall color near Roughlock Falls
Rapids near Roughlock Falls with fall foliage.
From the Range Days Rodeo at the Central States Fair in August 2009:
Steer wrestlers chasing their quarry
Bareback bronc riding
Rock-steady roping horse holding the line while his rider ties a calf
From Bear Country USA just outside Rapid City:
Bull elk
Mountain lion kittens
Black bear cubs
Red fox
Scary weather from summer 2009:
West Rapid City
New Underwood (Yes, that is a tornado in the first photo... I don't have enough brains to stop photographing and run away.)
Random photos taken from or near our property in New Underwood
