Default Cowboy Philosophy

I had lunch today in a biker bar near the Wyoming border. A plaque behind the bar read "Speak your mind, but ride a fast horse."
I thought there was a lot of truth in that phrase and wondered if anyone on this forum had any favorite pieces of wisdom. If so, let's post them here.

My Grandfather's family moved to Vernon, Texas in 1878. He was fond of saying this expression that he learned as a boy from a local rancher, "When you give a lesson in meanness to a animal or person, they'll learn their lesson."
