For the same reason you don't see a blizzard in South Dakota that dumped 19 inches of snow and had 60 mph winds, on national news, but you'll see that Chicago was devastated with 4 inches of snow and 25 mph winds and gusts to 30.

Got back from Custer about an hour ago. It was raining all the way to Hot Springs. We saw a couple hundred Mule Deer along the way, but no Elk or Antelope. It's about 38 degrees out now.

south central south dakota. Ongoing snow will end from west to
east today. Behind a cold front...strong northwest winds will
occur with reduced visibilities due to blowing snow.

Possibly up to 3 inches in the northern foothills. Snow will

will cause areas of blowing snow. Visibilities will be one half
mile or less at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A winter storm warning means heavy snow...strong wind...freezing

conditions.

It's 33 degrees and calm in Hot Springs. The sky is overcast, but the rain stopped sometime last night. It should be nice out once the clouds go away.
