OMG, I can't believe how expensive your food items are there. I don't drink milk and the only thing we ever buy it for is my husband's cereal and he picks that up so I really don't know how much milk is.

As far as the other items, we probably would have to live on mac n cheese if we lived in Cal. Here are a couple of examples~a loaf of bread is about 1.39 if you want a name brand loaf like Wonder Bread or something like that. You can get the store brand for about 99 cents. I'm hoping that I'm reading this part wrong. Did you really say a HALF gallon of ice cream is 6.00? It's about 2.59 here and cheaper when it's on sale. That would be a name brand like Land-o-Lakes or whatever.

On the steak question, I'm sort of at a loss. I'm not much of a meat eater. But every Sat. night my husband BBQs a T-bone for himself. He loves steak and it's always WELL over a 1 pound package. I believe he pays in the area of 10.00 for it. I drink cherry coke in 24 oz. bottles. I pay 2.50 for a six pack of it, which is really reasonable. Eggs are about 1.00 a dozen. If you have any other questions, just list them and I'll check them when I go to the store this weekend.

Unclecharley, I didn't realize that. We've often heard where it's nice and warm out that way when we're just hoping to get up to zero. I need a warmer climate!

OMG!!!! Loaf of bread for 0.99???? Even our store brand bread is over 2.00 a loaf.
These were just a few things I went hunting for last weekend, I managed to remember the price of them. I'll have to save my next receipt from the store and post the prices. Land O Lakes Ice Cream??? I've never seen that out here...We love there butter, but that's $5.00 for a pound. The best ice cream here is Dryers (imo)...That's resonably priced. I just picked up a 1/2 gallon yesterday, on sale, for $4.99... Mac&Cheese is expensive here too Jammie =[
I appreciate that you post the prices of things for us...This will give us an idea of at least how much groceries cost. Everything has gotten way out of control price wise here...

Eggs here are double that...For the cheap ones. We used to get a break from our local butcher (who's no longer there) on 10-15lbs of ground meat for .99/lb for our dogs. Now, we buy from a different place in a 10lb chub and it's I think 12.58 for 10lbs.

Hi all, No sales tax on food in FL. And I haven't got a clue what food costs here. If I don't look at the price tags I can't notice them going up LOL. Actually, I switched to buying bulk a long time ago, so really not sure.

Do they have places up there to buy bulk quantities?
