No, unfortunately Tripp is dying out like a lot of smaller towns in our state. In 1976 the population was 932, I believe. Right now I doubt that there's 500 people living there anymore. Hinks (the local hangout) was torn down years ago. Not much happening there anymore.

Tripp?!?!?! My mom grew up there and my grandparents still live north of town on a farm.
But, yeah. Tripp is dying But they still have a bowling alley and a movie "theater". Your brother lives there?? Your probably related to me somehow lol.

I think half the people that visit the SD forum have something in common with Tripp. My Grandparents lived there for 50 years.

I realize this is an old post, but this seems to be turning around. My Mom and Step-Dad moved to Tripp in '06. A gentleman that my s-Dad works with, heard him talking about the place, bought a house and moved his family there like a week later. I'd heard other similar stories about other sm. SD towns. My husband and I are looking to do the same very soon.

That's very true. I have a cousin who owned his own business in Omaha, got sick of it, moved the family to Chamberlain, SD and now he's a stay-at-home dad while his wife does nursing. They love it.
