A proposal to charge for water taken from Missouri River reservoirs has drawn the ire of South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, who vowed to sue the Army Corps of Engineers if it is implemented.

In draft planning documents released this month, the corps proposed to institute a storage fee system by designating some water impounded in Missouri River reservoirs as “surplus.”

Municipal and industrial users then would have to enter into five- to 10-year purchase contracts for water drawn from the river’s six reservoirs, four of which are in South Dakota.

The corp really needs to pull their head out of their collective backside.

For some reason there is no mention in the article about how much the fee's might be or what the money would be used for or the reasoning behind the fee's. I don't want to pay any more taxes either, but I wish the Corps would make some attempt to make their case before I decide to be against it.

It sounds like they want another piece of pie... Which leads to being obese and more health problems... Oh wait.
