Pretty Flamingo is on a distinguished road
Default Visiting Pierre

Hello everybody, I am new to this forum and I have a lot of questions....

We are starting in December to Pierre, but now I was shocked: I have been told that there do not exist a bus going out from Pierre to Mt. Rushmore or Sioux Falls, only for example. IS THAT TRUE ???
I don't know if I would like to rent a car when you do have toooooo much snow!
Do there exist a train?
Or a bus to Fort Pierre?

And please, can anybody tell us where to meet nice people in Pierre?
Where to sit comfortable and talk and learn about other culture and country?
We are in the middle 40
Whereever I went in my life during vacation, it was so interesting to meet new people and talk to.

So, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP !!

Ah, I forgot to tell that we are German.

I wish you all a nice afternoon!

Kind Regards from Pretty Flamingo

Hi there

I live up in northeast ND/northwest MN....and although I have never been to Pierre, being the state capital it is bound to have some public transportation.

I did some checking and there is River Cities Transit, 24 hour local bus service which serves Pierre and Ft Pierre. Also, Jefferson Bus Lines does do daily service across South Dakota from Sioux Falls....through Pierre...then to Rapid City. Below is a pdf file of a brochure on SD public transit from the SD DOT.

Pierre is a small town, but again a state capital, so places to eat out and stay would be more than a normal town its size. Pierre does have a city web site, google it and you can contact them for any additional info.

Dan
