Anyone notice there is one open space at the crossing still by davids bridal and dress barn? Wonder what might go there, if anything. What ever happened to linens n things? I was looking forward to their store as much as any other new store. Has there been anything published about the next phase of construction at the crossing? I thought it was going to start up this fall.
As for the rushmore mall, JCPennys sure has lots of activity around it lately. construction that is, from what i hear that place is cracking and heaving and just falling apart. Wonder if that might push them out of the mall as well? I also noticed dirt work being done between the Hot Rod Institute and Slumberland. I was at Hot Rod's today and asked if they were adding on and their reply was "I wish, but no." Any ideas what this might be?

I think the open space is where Michael's Arts and Crafts is going. There is also an open space by Shoe Carnival and then at the end by TJ Maxx.

LinensNThings filed bankruptcy around April or so, and backed out. They also closed over 100 stores nationwide.

Ashnat is right -- Linens N Things didn't find a buyer and they're selling off all their stuff and closing as fast as they can.

I was told at Gordmans this week that they had the best grand opening in Gordmans history as well as the strongest sales of all Gordmans since they have opened. I guess Rapid City is enjoying their store, now lets see if they CONTINUE to support Gordmans.

The Gordman's in Sioux Falls does well for itself and has some interesting things every now and then. I find a few good finds here and there but do not care much for their clothing styles. I hope that Rapid City's does well.

I think I'm going to write up an article for the Journal about the shopping experience at Rushmore Crossing.
As the could winds begin to blow, does it bother anyone that it's outdoors as much as it is? A friend of mine was talking about how she thought the shopping area would be built in such a way where it wasn't so exposed to the weather. I've got to say, if you have to park a distance from the doors, it can be a nasty cold walk.
If you've shopped at Rushmore Crossing and would be interested in adding your opinion to the article, direct message me so we can chat.

Not being from here, I've shopped at many outdoor malls. (Lincoln and Omaha, NE have them). I thought it sounded stupid at first, but I actually shopped at them all the time. It's nice because you don't have to park at one mall entrance, walk thru the entire mall inside to get to the 1 store I want, AND get hassled by all the kiosk employees. I'd be walking thru the wind to get in the mall anyway.

I think the wind will be an issue for a while because the buildings all face north and there is nothing north of Rushmore Crossing except vast prairie. Fortunately the next phases of building include parts that will be built along the Interstate and it will block out wind. Also, lots of small trees have been planted along the Interstate and when they are larger they will block wind as well.
Jeremy, I was meaning to ask you-- I heard from the manager at Jimmy John's that they are planning on opening two more shops here in Rapid City. One on Haines Avenue in the new Quatros Vistas Park and one at The Crossing. Is there a way you could look into that???
