Oh, Rapid City shouldn't be too bad. It's just getting into the belt.

In Rapid City it can snow all Memorial Day Weekend, and by June 5th the pools are open and the sunscreen's sold out at Walgreen's.

Thanks for the replies in reference to the weather. Like I wrote earlier back in Dec. 2005 to Feb '06 and then again in April '06 to June '06 I did a travel assignment in Cheyenne, WY. We visited Deadwood and Rapid City, of course the Black Hills as well. My husband loved the Black Hills and felt a connection. He does genology and found that part of his family settled in WY, can't recall the name of the city right now. We are currently living right on the Harris county line in what is called the Clear Lake area. League City once was a small city but that is no longer true, just an extention of Houston. We moved back here after being gone for nearly 15 years when my husband's mother had a heart attack last year. Well now she is better, living on her own, and my husband's youngest brother lives down here. So we are ready to go where we feel a connection, want to be a part with no desire to change what is there. Have a few years more before I retire, figure that nurses are needed and could provide a service and at the same time enjoy the lifestyle there. My hope is that we can make the move in March, probably be closer to middle March. Will first make an initial visit for interviewing and looking for a house to lease hopefully early March. I will stay in touch and try to check this forum every night or at least no more than a couple of nights. Once again thanks so very much for the information and the friendliness shown. Sure feels good.

Not sure if this will be seen anytime soon. We will be relocating to Rapid City hopefully by early March. At this time I have submitted three applications for surgical nurse positions. I do want to thank everyone for the postings here - tried to read a as many as possible every few days to help learn more about the area. Anyway it is very cold here in Houston, TX but this is Texas and in a few days if not hours this will change lol. Again thanks to all the postings and the information that is given out so freely.

Silver, everyone is happy to help and you'll find that here in real life, too. You had me curious and I'm a weather addict anyway so I compared our temps. It feels 36 degrees warmer down there right now then it does in southeastern So. Dak. But the problem down there is you're so used to it being nice and warm and this must feel awful for you.

We hope you'll stay with us and let us know how you feel about the relocation.

Thanks Jammie for the reply. The weather down here in Houston near the gulf tends to be what my husband describes as wet. Years ago when he worked for the Texas City PD a bunch of officers came down from Ohio when their department was laying off. It seems that when it did turn cold here these guys said they nearly froze. I am sure we will do fine. We survived a winter season in Cheyenne back in 2006, the wind came close to knocking me down though. Oh and the nice and warm, well I am not much for the weather here - like it cool. Guess that is why I don't mind working in the operating room. Well think I have rambled enough.

Will let you know how the move goes.
