Default Generator

My wife and I are still thinking of retiring in Rapid City area. Have been watching your weather. When you have the ice storms, do a lot of people lose their power? Do many people have generators, and would that be feasible to hook to a home? The snow is very pretty up there. We do not get much snow in Florida. LOL.

Rapid City really doesn't have ice storms. Least, our definition. It snows. I define Ice Storms like when I was out in Portland and it was raining and freezing.

Rapic City normally just gets snow. I haven't lived there in a while, but power was not a problem. Seldom lost power during a snow storm. I remember, years ago, we had a bad one and we lost power for a few hours was all. House didn't even get cold before power came back on. It's pretty stable there.

I have a friend that lives out in Rapid Valley and he bought a big generator on wheels from the Air Force. Completely over hauled it thinking he'd have good use for it. He starts it each year just to make sure it's running, but he's never had to use it.

Hello there yamahstar. I am also from Florida looking to relocate to Michell SD, or Alexandria SD. I will be taking a trip to SD in February or March 08.

What part of Florida are you in? We are in NE Florida around Gainesville. We are looking at Rapid City area. It is fun to plan. Are you tired of Florida also?

Very much so. We live in Central Florida half hour south of Daytona Beach. Been here for 18 years and tired of it.

Do not care for gators but like Tebow. Are you going to sale your place, and then move to South Dakota. Why did you decide to go there out of curiosity?
