on our stock dam/dougout was 6''thick, a week ago. moved cows, so haven't been back out to open ice for cows. However, we just heard from ''that friend'' up at DEVIL'S LAKE N DAK...ICE IS 11.5 INCHES THICK. .
thought I'd post that, just for my friend Jammie, cuz I've figgured out how much she likes the snow and cold!!!lLOL!

I'm tryin to get the hubby to pack up and GO(anywhere!) Fishing.....problem is i have to find my substiute( I refuse to do ice, anymore)

First off, ya need an ice shack. Open the plank on the floor and drill. Have a heater going. Gotta have some spikes and rope to anchor it down so the wind doesn't move you from your favorite spot. With the heater going, it's like being in the living room at home.

A nice bench, a couple of six packs and it's home.

The ice reminds me of those quirky Ole and Lena stories. If going on ice when it is plenty thick is what gets people going, go for it.

debey, what kind of substitute are you looking for?

Elkhunter, Some of the guys in Wisconsin bring generators along and hook up a T V for their favorite game. Electric heaters are nice too, but they can get too hot.
