South Dakota foreclosures is on a distinguished road
Exclamation South Dakota foreclosures

South Dakota ranks 49th for foreclosures. Reason being RealtyTrac, admits that the company only reports on three counties, Minnehaha, Meade and Brown. Davison county the number of foreclosures has 3X since 2006, and Yankton County has twice as many people lose their homes since 2006.

Foreclosures are skyrocketing in South Dakota and are under reported.

South Dakota is ranked 49th in foreclosures because there weren't large numbers of new housing starts during the boom period. Consequently, there aren't large numbers of people who purchased properties using subprime mortgages whose variable rates have since reset.

Yea, I also believe that part of it is that there was never a huge boom here and most people realize they can't afford a 500,000 house like in many areas of the country.

But I also read the same thing about those stats. It just doesn't give a true picture of it and I wonder if some of the other states didn't have the same type of brief scan of the state.

How can just Minnehaha, Meade and Brown counties prove fact for the entire state? There is a ton of new homes in other counties especially Lincoln, Pennington, and the Dakota Dunes area. Probably more so than in Aberdeen, which is dying, and Sturgis!

Aberdeen is the opposite of dying. Tons of new jobs are moving to the area...
