Spain, Frisby, Amherst, they're all close in there. Don't know if anybody is in Frisby or Amherst anymore. Been years since I was in that location.

Another kinda ghost town, but not really is Benclare, South Dakota 9 1/2 miles directly south of me. There's 2 ways to get there from the east, take SD Highway 42 east out of Sioux Falls go through Rowena then take a left on 268th St. (South Dakota) this road is the border road of SD and IA. Keep on goin for about a 1 1/2 and take a left on Benclare Ave. and you'll be in Benclare, you can't miss it.
Coming from the East take MN Exit 1 (Pipstone/Jasper, which turns into Rock County 17 on the south side of the interstate) south, keep goin through another kinda ghost town of Manley, MN for about 7 miles and you'll hit the IA border (you'll know when that takes place) and take a right for about 2 1/2 miles then take a right on Benclare Ave.
Also near here is Bruce, MN although nothing remains of Bruce. But if you'd like to go their it's 1 mile west of Hills, MN. Trust me nothings there.
I have one more ghost town Ash Creek, MN. Go South out of Luverne, MN on US 75 for about 7 miles and turn right on 41st St./CR-1 for about a mile and you'll be in Ash Creek.
Sorry I got a little off topic but since these are so close to me I just thought i'd mention them. So, these are just a few "ghost towns" that I know of. You just have to know where to look. An atlas that I recommend is the South Dakota Atlas and Gazetteer. It shows every road and every town that you could think of I believe everyone should have one of these. If you get lost you can find your exact location and then find the best possible route home.

According to the news, I don't think Brandon is a ghost town anymore. Not sure about Valley Springs either. Brandon is close enough to Sx. Falls that it sounds like it's thriving.

When I drove through Brandon I saw a lot of new developments and business plazas. It definitely not a ghost town by any means. It's a bedroom community for Sioux Falls. I think there's nearly 10,000 people living there.

Brandon is a growing community...like Danny said, its a bedroom community for SF. And did you mean Larchwood instead of Latchwood?

dont be afraid of a recluse. company good for talking! its those who are having drinking /drug parties to worry about. yes,ive seen evidence of places where people do that . not a good place for a lone female like me! id rather talk to the recluse . i wanted to go in hills to camp this winter, but have some things i have to tend to first. saw a bald eagle in the city campground in spearfish recently...also signs of mtn lion kills. not to worry usually about mtn lions going after people. they usually find plenty of wildlife for food.

Pejuta, glad to know that you're doing fine. I'm glad that you're staying in town for the winter cause camping out isn't a good idea. It just gets TOO cold for that. Stay safe and warm.
