Western Minnesota has some nice places. What size range? Crime rates vary from low to average to really high in some areas.

Thanks, I had no idea on the hardware stores, that's fantastic for independent business! I've seen some really big cities having less.

What size house and price range are you searching for? How big a town to be in or near?
Have you used realtor.com, Zillow or other?

Is your current search restricted to MN side of border with SD, both or not restricted to that area? Near lakes important? Near a college town important or unwanted?

Have you checked: Morris, Benson, Montevideo, Granite Falls MN? Watertown or Clear Lake SD?

What was closest to right property you've identified so far?

Do you want / need to be close to Wheaton MN (or other)? How close?

Thank you for the great suggestions. Yes we lived in SE North Dakota for a few years and are familiar with the road and area down to Sioux Falls somewhat on the SD side. But not as much on the MN side or anything in Iowa.
