I can explain why the BP Stations switched back to Conoco. Read below!

As long as we are on the subject of Gas Stations, here are a couple eye openers.
I will NEVER buy gas from either Citgo, BP or the new Petro Express!
Hugo Chavez is the foreign owner of Citgo gas stations in the US , as well as BP. He has openly stated that he is against all Americans and only wishes them death and destruction. However, he is willing to have his gas stations here in America and his goal is to get rich off Americans.
Citgo is changing their name to Petro Express because Chavez is starting to feel the loss of revenue from his holdings
ANNOUNCED JUST RECENTLY, CITGO, BEING AWARE THAT SALES ARE DOWN DUE TO U.S. CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO BUY FROM "CHAVEZ", HAVE STARTED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SOME OF THEIR LOCATIONS, TO: "PETRO EXPRESS"

DO NOT BUY FROM "PETRO EXPRESS"!
"PETRO EXPRESS" will ALSO be 100% OWNED BY "CHAVEZ .

Major companies that import Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9/1/00
-8/31/01).
Shell................ 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco....... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil......... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon............. 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco................ 62,231,000 barrels

Bob

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Sunoco 0 barrels
Conoco 0 barrels
Sinclair 0 barrels
BP/Phillips 0 barrels
Hess 0 barrels

How could BP be owned by Chavez? I understood that BP is a British-based company, which bought Amoco in the 1998-1999 time period and many Amocos switched over to BP in the 2002-2005 time period. Go to the BP site and check it out. Yes it has Venezuela operations, but Chavez and Venezuela government does not own BP, which it is based in London and is a private company.

When Citgo was in Sioux Falls, I refused to buy gas for that reason and the my father had bad experience with Citgo gas and refused to fill up there for that reason.

I have heard the Sinclair Oil does not do business with the Middle East. My relatives own a Sinclair station (used to be a Conoco station). Sinclair has been growing in Eastern SD with Conoco and Phillips 66 stations pulling out of eastern SD, Minnesota, ND, and a small part of NW Iowa.

Also, I understand that BP was pulling its brand out of most of South Dakota (except southeastern SD) along with North Dakota, Texas, Wyoming (few that are there), and Lousiana to focus on markets closer to its refineries. In SD, ND, and Wyoming's case, BP wanted to focus on marketing within a certain radius of its Indiana refinery. The Argus Leader and RC Journal had articles about this in late 2007. Many I have seen in other areas switched to Clark or Cenex in central SD.

Very interesting stats, sdgoldpanner.

Chris,
You are correct. The statement below should have read:

DO NOT BUY FROM "PETRO EXPRESS"!
"PETRO EXPRESS" will ALSO be 100% OWNED BY "CHAVEZ'S Government.

FYI: Also the BP Gas Stations in Rapid are no longer operating that I have seen.
Bob

Thanks for the tip, sdgoldpanner.

Petro Express seems fishy to me and I will be sure to avoid them as I did with Citgo. With crappy fuel and a crazy Venezuelan leader, Citgo is a joke in blunt and simple terms.

Chavez's government deserve not even a penny from me or the American people. All it is doing is making itself look stupid and ticking off the American people. The Venzuelan government is an embarrasment to its people and the world.

Boycott Citgo/Petro Express. Do not give one dime to Chavez's phony government and business ventures.

They started selling the E-85 made from pine trees up here over the weekend. They're advertisement said, "Come in and see if your car will run on it." Co-op is who has it so it'll be in SD real soon.

By the way, it's about $ .45 a gallon cheaper then anything else.

Do you mean that regular cars will run on E-85? I thought you had to have specific cars for that. Do you think it'll be safe or could it damage your car?

Um... I'll let some other people do that experiment before I take part.

Yeah, I don't know if they're going to inspect your car to see if it's equiped right, or if they're going to give you 10 gallons and tell you drive around for a bit. haha
