Maybe kuchen or wojapi. Many people here are from Scandinavian, Czech, and German descent. Many Native Americans too.

Danny,
No doubt they are looking for Kuchen. It is the *official* South Dakota dessert! Don't remember all the Hoopla up in Pierre when the German Russians were campaigning for kuchen and Senator Kloucek a Czech was campaigning for kolaches? I don't recall any Scandinavians campaigning for fatigmann or kringle.

There are as many recipes for kuchen as there are cooks making it! A good resource is the many community cookbooks usually published as fundraisers by church groups, etc. I have several with many different recipes. I am still trying to perfect my recipe to equal that of my dear departed mother-in-law who never measured anything.
