So. Dak. is divided by the Missouri River. It's not a straight line through the state, but along I-90 the division is at Chamberlain. Of course, anything west of that is West River and vice versa for East River.

There is a PROPOSED MEAT MARKET - not really a slaughterhouse - it has by no means passed - they are required by law to make this info public on any proposal - I think it will never pass
I believe there is one very small ally in town called "art alley" which I don't even know where it is... I would definatly not say Rapid is "progressive" hahahah I laugh just thinking it actually!!! We always say when you move here be ready to turn your watch back 20 years!

I was thinking the exact same thing! It'd be great to be in my early 30s again.
But actually, I totally agree with you, Busy. We are somewhat behind the times, but that suits me just fine.

hookups for move
we are moving to rapid next week! i was wondering how to go about turning on power/water/cable/internet/phone to our new house. does anyone have any tips? regarding internet, who are the providers in the area? if the cable company offers high speed internet, that has been the most reasonable option for us in the past. i appreciate any comments!

you can just call and schedule times for things to be turned on - where about will you be?
you can get cable / phone / internet all through several providers - such as prariewave, midcontinet, and golden west - just google search or dexonline search for numbers and call to compair services and prices and set up services.
Black Hills power can be called re your power and MDU is our gas company - we live in black hawk so our water is through the city, so not sure about rapid water

Rapid City
Hi! My husband & I live in a suburb of Denver and are desperately wanting to relocate to a more peaceful area of about 40,000 - 80,000 people. This used to be a wonderful place to live but not anymore. We have been injured several times by bad drivers, etc. We really want to move to Rapid City or close to it. We are both self employed and do photography, disc jockey, and antiques. If anyone knows of a warehouse with a store front for rent, please let me know. Would also consider a barn and/or event center. Thanks in advance!

HipChick-
I live in Rapid City and I know of many other people that have moved here from the Denver Metro as well. One of them is BusySocialWorker, a member of the forum! You will find that Rapid City is an excellent place to raise a family and that it can be a fun place to live. I, for one, would prefer to live in Denver as to Rapid City, but I am pretty young and I don't have a family so..
Warehouses with store fronts... not so sure on that one. There are many warehouses in Rapid Valley, an unincorporated suburb, and there are many places in 'old downtown' that could be transformed into an antique store or a storefront. You may want to contact a realtor in Rapid City to find exactly what you are searching for. If you need phone numbers or more information on Rapid City and the Black Hills region in general, don't hesitate to ask!
Best of Luck!

regarding art alley. its downtown. changes often. i know the artist. hes a musician from los angeles (i think). the art has been written up in newspaper. i think its worth looking at from time to time. its only one block just south of main and between 6th and 7th or thereabouts. memory for such is not always accurate, but i have no trouble finding it. im in spearfish now but go to rapid at times. i did live there. art alley is behind the presidents information store on se corner i think 7th and main.
