Default Vermillion SD to Nebraska?

Hello,

Is it possible to drive over the river from Vermillion SD into Nebraska (Maskell, Newcastle, rte. 12)? I see something on my map that looks like a bridge, but I can't be sure.

Thanks.

Yes, if you follow Highway 19 south out of Vermillion, it'll take you across the river to Nebraska/Highway 12.

If you are going on SD 50 on the north end of Vermillion, Highway 19 is on the western part of town with Polaris on the southeast corner and a church on the northeast corner. When you see those two landmarks, go south until the next stop sign (Cherry Street) and take a right hand turn and go west. There is a Pump N Pak (branded as a Clark station) on that corner. Once you go west, you will pass a grain elevator and pass the Vermillion River. After the river, you want to make a left hand turn (Highway 19 will go south for a few Miles) and follow the road with a wide shoulder. Following Highway 19 should not be a problem and if you follow the signs, it is not hard.

If you are going through Vermillion on Cherry Street (main commercial street with gas stations, Burger King, Mc Donald's, Hy-Vee, other businesses, and the northern part of USD campus, go straight west on that road and follow the same directions listed above after seing the Pump N Pak (branded as a Clark) station.
