I think it depends on age and your idea of social life.
If it involves lots of nightlife your going to be a bit disappointed unless you like country music or biker bars. There are some fun places downtown on Phillips or in the 8th & Railroad area but even those are dead sometimes on a weekend night.
As far as jobs go, Sanford is expanding and places like eSurance are constantly looking for management type people. So there are some benefits there. Someone who is single with some management level employment could also afford a pretty nice apartment or condo around here, far better than in a larger city.
