Default Teaching Jobs In Rapid City or Sioux Falls

Hello,

I am hoping to move to Rapid City or Sioux Falls this summer. I am an Elementary School Teacher who is also a certified Kindergarten Teacher and Reading Teacher. I would love to move to South Dakota...I live in Grand Forks, ND currently. How is the market for teachers in these areas? It's very slim around here.

Thanks!!

I don't know how the job market in Rapid City is firsthand, but I am sure you won't really have a problem finding work. Teachers are always needed in South Dakota!

Like Danny, I'm not sure about the larger cities either. I do know that when one teaching position opens in our school district, there are usually a lot of applicants. The most vacancies are in the smaller districts.

There are always tons of openings in Sioux Falls and the nearby bedroom communities, but as Jammie said, the bigger towns will have A LOT of applicants - especially in elementary school. If you were a high school math teacher, your odds would be a lot better. I know that for a elementary school teaching job in the Sioux Falls School District, expect well over 100 qualified applicants to apply for it. Probably a little less for the jobs in Brandon, Tea, Harrisburg, West Central, etc.

I'd say go ahead and apply in Sioux Falls, but don't move down here before you get the job.

GOOD LUCK!
