highschools in SD?
What are the educational environment in SD? Good enough for children to experience in terms of getting american life style and learning good English? How about boarding schools for children in terms of safety? Homestay might be good?

I don't think you'd be disappointed at all in the educational system in SD. How big of a city are you planning on moving to? One of the problems is the lack of students in the smaller communities. They are finding it necessary to consolidate, hence bussing. The larger schools have a lot of activities and a variety of subjects. I really think you'll be happy with our educational system.

High Scools
When I moved from a South Dakota school to a California school. I sat for about year and reviewed what I already had studied in South Dakota. The California School was about a year or two behind my former school. If there is any way to get education in the mid western states, I highly recommend it.

Time passes so quickly. My kids have spent the last full three years for their high shool lives. At first I was wondering if I were right in sending my kids to SD whrere I had never been ever. Now I can tell that I was right. The whole community have tried to help my kids all the way through they went along. My kids are now on the way for their fourth year in SD. I thank all the people I have met when I visited there. I thank all the poeple extended their generous hospitality.

Cool to get an update from an old post showing concern about something as important as your kids education. Glad our state came through for you.

I think it is great that people go to the trouble to make sure their kids are getting a good education. Some just let their kids go with their friends to whereever and then that's it. It is awesome that you are happy with the schooling your children are receiving.

I think that you'll find that the folks in South Dakota are pleased with the Education Sytem, simply because they get envolved. They/we care about education and there's nothing like Parent's getting in there and voicing their opinion.
It's a very important ingrediant.

Meant to do this earlier. I know the post from I Remember is from 2006 and I know I am not a SD resident, yet... However, having two children - one educated completely from K-12 who attended college at UW-Madison and one educated K-7th grade in WI. The second child experienced the same thing I Remember did in her 8th grade class. It took then going to a private high school in this state with honors and AP classes to get back to something like a midwestern/plains state classroom. Bottom line, this child graduated from the U of A (no complaints on that one; excellent school) and has an awesome job. She was one of the exceptions.
I could not agree more that those early years of getting a great education are imperative to a child achieving their best. This, I think, is going to be even more important with our current economic climate.
