It's not very nice over in my direction. I believe that DaninEFG had said the James River Valley was in for some of the worst part of this storm and he was right.
We had rain by 10 am and by noon we were seeing snowflakes. At least a couple of inches of snow had melted, but it was really coming down fast this evening. The wind is really blowing.
Originally it looked like Sx. Falls wasn't going to even get anything but rain and wind, but now you're in the snow area, too.
i'm about a mile from the James, in Forestburg. it's a safe guess we are at 8'' now[midnight]....this is wet, heavy ''heart attack'' snow....Its all i could do, to ''lift'' the shovel...it's not ''throw~able''....

I don't mind telling you that seeing pics of snow and gray skies in APRIL and reading descriptions of the conditions ("wind really blowing hard") somewhat scares the San Francissy in me!
Hope you're all staying warm and that your cows came home on time, Debey ...
I ventured out around supper and it is interesting how a few miles can make a big difference.
Beresford and south of Lennox did not have much if any for snow and had mostly rain.
Lennox had a white dusting of snow yesterday, but very little of it stuck. Seeing KELO this morning and last night (with the video footage), it is apparant to me that Sioux Falls had more snow than Lennox. Today, Lennox's snow is melted (it received about half of Sioux Falls's approx. 3 inches).
Go north 3-4 miles, then there is a noticeable but light layer of snow on the grass and fields. Tea has a light coating of snow like 3 miles north of Lennox. Sioux Falls is similar with a hare bit more snow.
Seeing the webcams of Dell Rapids exit around the time, they had more snow that Sioux Falls.
I heard that Larchwood, IA (across the border and SE of Sioux Falls 15 miles) had less snow than Sioux Falls and is in the same boat as Lennox.

Join the club. Our weather is the ONLY thing I don't like about our state. We can have nice, spring weather in April, but we can also have snowstorms. At least it'll melt very soon cause the temps are going up nicely. Imagine if this would've happened in Oct. and it'd be a rough winter. This snow would be on the ground for 6 months.
Last night the weather channel had some beautiful pics of the Hills area that someone had sent in. But actually, they had a very light snowfall there.
Wow!!! You know, I believe we had close to that, too, but a lot melted before there was accumulations so I don't think that counts. The official amount here was 9 inches of snow. AND the melt is just wonderful.
.70 in the rain guage.....do we find away to ''count'' that? doesn't matter, we were glad to get the precip!...
green[leaves, grass]where are you?
