State Park Cabins in spring? (Yankton, Chamberlain: rentals, hotel, camping)

Im going to be making a trip out soon and the would like to stay out of the city and camp around the countryside....I see some state parks have cabins and wondered if anyone here had any input on them? Im looking along the missouri mostly.

Any input or experiences?

I've stayed near the Chamberlain-Oacoma area quite a bit before. On one of side of the road (Shoreline Drive) is Cedar Shores Resort. They have a large hotel, restaurant, marina, park areas, etc. It is right on the Missouri River. On the other side of Shoreline Drive is a hilly area. They have cabins called the River Ranch Resort Cabins. I haven't stayed in the cabins, but I have stayed the weekend in the resort hotel. It was a fun time...if you are into fishing, it's great around that area.

I know there are areas around Yankton for camping and cabins, but I'm not too familiar with them.

They have several cabins for rent out in the Black Hills. I'm not sure if they still have this type, but several years ago they still had the rustic cabins, no heat, no ac, etc. They used to rent for about 30 a night. But like I said, that was several years ago. It almost sounds like that's something you'd enjoy. Of course, they have a lot of cottages and very nice cabins out there, too. And sorry, but I've never stayed in a cabin anywhere but in the Hills.

Many of the state parks along the Missouri River have cabins. The ones I've had experience with are at North Point State Park near Pickstown/Lake Andes, South Dakota. They had A/C and twin size beds. You would need to bring your own bedding. There is electricity in them. Basically they are a small one room cabin. The bathrooms are not too far away and they have showers. The cabins have beautiful views and rent for approximately $35/night I think. They book fast in the summer. Go to the state park website for more info!

I don't know too much about cabins on the Missouri River, but there are plenty of them to choose from in the Black Hills. Some are even set along Highway 16 on the way to Mount Rushmore.

Ok, I'm going to admit it out loud. I became an Eagle Scout at a outing. What was funny is that I drove 18 miles into town only to have the scout master bring me back out to about 1/2 mile from my house. He didn't know where I lived. But I lived up in the hills. hahaha So go figure.
