Since it is almost camping season does anybody have any favorite places in eastern SD? I like the smaller places with less people. Hook ups for the TT are nice but not needed.

My favorite place has to be Lake Carthage from Monday to Thursday. I bought a beautiful older one owner TT last year and really enjoyed camping with the luxuries of home. Since I am new to RV camping I don't really know very many places to go yet. Any advice on places to try and why you like them would be greatly appreciated.

Get on the ball with reserving spots now because if you wait at all for camping season, they'll all be gone except for some mosquitoe infested small sites by smaller rivers like the Big Sioux Fiver or the Vermillion River.

Because we don't know if we have free time months in advance, we've all but given up on camping ourselves. When we did go camping a favorite spot was Chief White Crane just below the Gavins Point Dam by Yankton on the Missouri River. Get set up early so you can take advantage of the all you can eat fish fry (along with their std. buffet) at JoDeans on Friday nights. Definitely try to get a spot there during Riverboat Days.

Another spot we went to was on the south shore of Lake Poinsett. You might also look into reserving camping on Lake Okoboji. It's only 90 miles from Sioux Falls. There you have beautiful lakes, you can reserve a boat if you wish, and of course there's Arnold's Park there as well.

All these spots I mentioned have full hookups.
