road name help
I'm a writer of fiction for children. The story I'm working on has as its setting, a ranch in Ziebach County. The ranch is located along the Moreau River, near the community of Iron Lightning. In the story, a rancher and his family travel from home to Dupree on highway 212. I've looked at my road maps and even on MapQuest, and there appears to be a small dirt road that connects Red Elm to Iron Lightning. Anybody familiar with that area? If so, I'd appreciate any information you have. Thanks, and have a grand day. tunner

Country road
That is actually called the Iron Lighting Road. No other name that I've ever heard of. It runs from Iron Lightning down to 212. Then if you go East you hit Red Elm.
Hope that helps

Thanks
I appreciate the info about the Iron Lightning Road. If you're familiar with that area, is the road paved or dirt? Is there anything at the community of Iron Lightning- like a store or gas station? Would Red Elm or Dupree be big enough towns to have a library, a vet clinic, or a Dairy Queen for ice cream cones? These are all elements in my fictional story, but I want them to be as accurate as possible. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Have a great New Year Eve's Eve! tunner

Iron Lightning Road
Sorry, can't help you. It's been 35 years since I've been down that way.

Thanks anyway
I've never been there, except in my imagination. I picked it for my setting because I wanted to have a very remote ranch, and I liked the names of the creeks and little towns in Ziebach County. Maybe somebody who lives around there will stumble along and help me out. Take care. Tunner
