I was hoping someone would catch that. I am a heavy speaker. Deadwood was evacuated in 2002 due to a fire. If I recall, it was the Grizzly Gulch fire. There have measures taken since then. The Mountain Pine Beatle problem issue has been mitigated. The risk is there. Some years will be dry and the potential for fire is greater. Other years, the risk is not as great.

December 2017 there was a fire that tore through Custer State Park. It was caused by a tree that fell on a power line. The tree was outside the right of way of the power line.

Fire is always a danger if one lives in hills or mountains anywhere. If this is a “I wanna move there but...” topic I’d say you’ll have better luck in box elder or Gillette
