Default Aberdeen Questions

Just a few curiosities I need answered. I've been going to the eastern 1/3 of SoDak snowgoose hunting for 7 years now, and absolutely love the state, especially east of around Aberdeen. My questions are as follows. Is there a good construction/building trade and jobs currently available? Also, what is the housing market like or the general cost of rent to live in a 2 bedroom apartment in town, or a house within 35 miles of town? Cost of living sounds cheap, according to the other posts on this forum. What is the guy to girl ratio like?(Hope this doesn't offend people, but had to ask) Is there much for entertainment? I am a single 26 year old contractor, looking to relocate and start over new in most aspects of my life and business, having wanted to move near Clark/Watertown/Aberdeen area for almost 3 years now. I really need to decide now with the spring season in full swing. I have my own construction and seamless gutter business now and it's really doing well, knock on wood, and hope it's the same out there.

Thank you for any and all posts, Adam.

AWO, I used to live in that area...about 4 years ago...I originally grew up there... I live in Sioux Falls now... So, I'll try to help as much as I can. The cost of living is very cheap... I read, a while back, that most of the apartments are filled up in Aberdeen... They just built a beef plant, and a few other companies are adding jobs, totaling a thousand or two. Within 35 miles, you can find a decent house in a small town, under 100,000 ...no problem.
As for the guy to girl ratio...depends on who you ask, lol... As with most smaller areas, it seems the only place to meet people is at the bars. The Zoo bar in Aberdeen is where the younger crowd tends to hang out.
As for the business part... I know housing is needed, as more people move to the area with the increase in jobs...but I'm unsure of the time-frame of when these jobs will be added. I'm not sure exactly when the beef plant will open, but it will bring a big wave of people to Aberdeen. However, most of these people are looking for low-income housing/apartments...
Hope this helps somewhat... Any other questions are welcome, I'm familiar with the area.
