The neighbors, not that was an accent. You'd have to pay so close attention to what especially the ol man said. Even then you go away thinking, what did he say. He was a great old guy, just a great old guy. Just rolled his words, so neat to listen to him.

No... it's named after the woman who owned the land and decided to develop it into our tiny little subdivision. (She's long gone now, so we can't ask her.) But now I see there's a vote for "Ross-holt" - which is the OTHER way we thought it was pronounced. What will I do now?

And regarding the question about accents in Colorado vs. South Dakota, we Coloradans are proud of the fact that we have no discernable accent - unless you count the fact that many of us say "Dude" (pronounced "dewwwwwwd" ) before every single sentence.... Ugh.

I've always heard it said "Ross-holt" or more of a "Roz-holt" myself After living in CO and SD I have not noticed ANY difference in accent at all... but that's just me.
