Danny, you have a valid point with the tourists, retirees, and the trust fund babies. Sioux Falls has a Linen N' Things right across from Wal-Mart on Louise Ave, which has opened up two or three years. Rapid City may have some stuff that Sioux Falls does not have and vice versa. Sioux Falls will get more options once the east side commercial development gets going.
Cabela's is in Mitchell and it would not make sense for them, as a specialty retailer for sporting goods, to build in Sioux Falls due to it being close to one of their existing outlets. Cabela's builing in Rapid City makes sense, due to them not having as much of an impact on their store in Mitchell and their Nebraska stores.
The topic is interesting, to say the least. Rapid City has Furniture Row and Sioux Falls has HOM furniture (based in the Twin Cities). Sioux Falls has a Younkers, but Rapid has Herbergers (which is owned by the same company as Younkers). Sioux Falls has a Macy's (which was Dayton's then a Marshall Fields and a lot of department stores switched to Macy's to present a unified brand nationwide). I am sure that Rapid City is growing and many ammenities such as Rushmore Crossings. I hope that Rushmore Crossings works well for Rapid City and forces the Rushmore Mall to update its facilities and improve its offerings when some of its tenants leave for Rushmore Crossings.
Danny, does Rapid City have a Jimmy John's? I have been to one in West Des Moines and know that there are three of them in Sioux Falls. When you next come to Sioux Falls, you should stop by CiCi's Pizza, Texas Roadhouse, Jonny Carino's, and Panera Bread. Spezia's (a local outfit) has a strong reputation for its Italian food.

Rapid City does have a Jimmy John's in Baken Park right next to Qdoba. Both of those places are my livelihood! I love Panera and I'm so jealous that you guys have one! I could eat there everyday too! Are there Pauly's in Sioux Falls? Rapid City has 4.

Sioux Falls does not have a Pauly's. What type of place is Pauly's?
I like Qdoba, but do not like it as well as Chitople. I would love to have a Chitople or two in Sioux Falls. Unfortunately, the nearest ones are in Minneapolis and Omaha. There are other restaurants I would love to have in Sioux Falls. One being Red Robin, which the nearest one is Sioux City. Others include Bob Evans (nearest one is in St. Joseph, MO and I make it a point to stop there when I go to or through Missouri), Steak N' Shake (nearest ones in far eastern Iowa and Kansas City metro), Runza (nearest one is in Wayne, NE), and Braum's (nearest one is in Salina, KS). Finally got my Sonic two years ago and a second one this spring. There is talk that Sioux Falls will eventually get a third one on the southern firnges of the city. GoodTimes, a burger chain in Colorado, is thinking about opening up franchised locations in Sioux Falls.
It sounds like both Rapid City and Sioux Falls have a great array of eating places, although each have the same things and one has a few places that the other does not have. I venture that Rapid City follows Denver and Sioux Falls follows Minneapolis.

Pauly's is a pizzeria and sub company. It's pretty fantastic. I like Chipotle too but I like Qdoba more because their queso is amazing! I can put it on anything. If Chipotle offered queso I'd love it! I think I'm gonna make a quick run to Qdoba now...

Day 2 of setting the new Target is complete. It's looking very FANCY inside! Everything but clothes is in a complete new area, you're going to get lost the first couple of visits! (snacks is no longer right by the registers, it's where Elec and Hardware is in the current store, from the checklanes)
It's a very spiffy store. In the stockroom, we have library type ladders in each backstock aisle, that rolls up and down the aisles. So NO MORE moving ladders around the backroom from aisle to aisle to aisle.
The Starbucks and Pizza Hut are nice, and the seating area is fancy. I'm thrilled to get a pharmacy in this store.

Sounds snazzy Ashnat! I didn't know Targets had Starbucks or Pizza Huts in them. Will they be inside Target or next to it? So far just Show Carnival and Furnture Row are open. I can't wait until the new Target opens!

The food avenue, pizza hut, and starbucks are all one. It's just a longer counter area and it wraps around into a seating area. It's in front of the registers, where the customer service currently is, in the old store.
Customer Service in the new store, is where the bathrooms and one hour photo are located in the old store. In the new store, customer service and one hour photo are together at one counter.
There's even a "family restroom".

The Target in Sioux Falls has a Pizza Hut Express. I think they just serve the small pizzas. I was up in Aberdeen a while back, and theirs is being remodeled. Someone told me that it will be a SuperTarget, but I highly doubt that.

So Ashnat do you know any other "inside info" on Rushmore Crossing? I heard from a good source that we're slotted to get a Nordstrom's. Have you heard anyhting of the sort?
