Default Home to SD?

My husband (a Hospital administrator who specializes in rural health) and I (a librarian with experience in public, school and academic libraries) would love to come back to South Dakota. We would love to hear about any opportunities that you know of that might make this move possible. Pierre, Yankton, Vermillion, the Black Hills.....

It's great to hear that you want to come back home. Have you checked with job listings on local hospital websites? I don't know if I can be of much help East River but here are listings for Rapid City and the surrounding Black Hills towns. Please tell us, where are you at now and what made you decide to come back?

I agree... I would check the hospital websites...
Sioux Falls has Sanford, Avera McKennan/SD Heart Hospital, and the VA hospitals... Sanford and Avera are growing and I'm sure are looking for more people. As for libraries... You can check the Sioux Falls School District website for jobs. I know they are building a new library on the west side of SF, but I'm not sure on when it will be open.
Is there a specific area you are looking at in SD?

We live in Nevada now, much too hot for me and too far from family. Although we know some lovely people here, I am not fond of the desert. My parents are aging and we would like to enjoy the SD quality of life. My husband is ready to make a move and I could follow after this contract year. I have been watching the Rapid City Regional website and the Avera and Sanford sites for hospital jobs. We'll probably have to be patient and wait for the right opportunity to come about.

Sorry the desert hasn't worked in your favor. I on the other hand LOVE that dry heat! By the way, the Rapid City Public Library just opened a brand new northside branch in General Beadle Elementary School. It's meant to make it easier for low-income kids to have access to books and media. The entire school is brand new and so is the adjacent library and clinic. You may want to check that out too. It's a great thing that Rapid City has done for the struggling northside.
