Jammie, did you eat at Jake's (Kevin Costner's place) while you were in Deadwood? It's in the Midnight Star. Other good restaurants in Deadwood are Silverado, Four Aces, and Cadillac Jack's.

MJ, tell your Mom "HI" from me. I hadn't touched a computer until four years ago. My intentions were to avoid them like the plague, but now I'm addicted.

Danny, is Jake's upstairs in the Midnight Star? We were in that casino and it's very possibly the one we dined in. Our friends from New Jersey thought it was the coolest place with all the memorabilia from the movie in there. They had loved that movie before they ever thought of vacationing here.

Hi Jammie,

Jake's is indeed above the Midnight Star. I know this because my nephew Jake was with us on our adventure and we all laughed when we saw the name up there. I am a HUGE Dances With Wolves fan (Yesenia and I watched it last night). My nephew Jake wants to have his own restaurant when he grows up which is pretty cool. I told him he's going to have to expand his own personal menu beyond "Chicken Fingers" along the way so he can have a variety of good food for people.

Take Care!

hmmmm local favorites: Minervas, Pirate's Table, The Corn Exchange, LaCosta, Golden Phoenix, Chains - Red Lobster and Olive Garden. Fastfood stuff would be Taco Bell or Taco John's, Qudoba, Quiznos, Schlotzky's, or Subway - Honestly we have not ventured out much with two little ones (and no local baby sitters) to explore the other local sit down places (except they typical chains like TGI Fridays, Chilis, Applebees etc which are more kid friendly and we go from time to time

Out of state favorites (much easier as it was "pre-child stage") - The Melting Pot, PF Changs, Buca Di Beppo, Maggiano's Little Italy, The Fresh Fish Company, Landry's Seafood, Cinzzettis Italian Market, Black Eyed Pea,and for more fast food kind of stuff - Panda Express and Chipotle Now I am super hungry and need to visit Denver just to eat

Busy, I know just how you feel! Whenever I go to Denver I try to eat at as many new restaurants as I can. I'll eat at 5 in a 3 day trip! We are supposed to be getting a Buca di Beppo, Red Robin, and Ted's Montana Grill at Rushmore Crossing but those were on the original plans and who knows what has changed by now? I can't believe I forgot Qdoba! It's my favorite "fast food" typ place! Rapid City's is always so hectic I woudn't be surprised to see another one at Rushmore Crossing. I also envy you SooFoos with your PANERA!!! It's great!

Granite City is great too! Is it a chain or just local?

Danny, I've never been to Panera, but have heard great things about it. I need to stop there and try it, I drive past it almost on a daily basis .
Granite City is a chain I think...They have one in Fargo, Omaha, and Lincoln.
