I have not been there for quite a while and should make a visit one of these days. They moved to the old Taco Bell on 41st St after Taco Bell built a newer fast food place back in the early 1990s. Yes, it was before Kohl's came to town (filled in the space where Richman Gordman's, which was a department store, used to be).

''the meat'' is a mix of beef & mutton, I think...and if it is not on a rotissorary(sp) I will not order a Gyro, any where........
the time frame is def. early 90's, I moved to Sanborn County in the fall of 90, and didn't travel to Sioux Falls, much, prior to that.

In Sioux Falls Fortune is one of the best Chinese places I have eat at. On Rice right off of Cliff.
The other must stop in Sioux Falls is Cracker Barrel and Famous Daves.
Rapid City we like to eat a Ruby Tuesdays... Usually when we leave the Cancer Center we go there, or Colonial House. Sanfords on Omaha is also great for some excellent food that is not healthy.
In Pierre Mad Mary's and Jakes Goodtime Place good eating. The Outpost north of town is also good. La Ministra has decent food, but the whole atmosphere mainly the owners attitude doesn't impress me. Frankly for that kind of meal I would rather cook it at home.
The place in Rapid that I miss the most is Arts Smokehouse. I am a sucker for great BBQ.

You might be right... I can't recall. The Wrangler in downtown Custer is OK I guess.

Famous Dave's in Sioux Falls is good. Love their pulled pork and beef brisket.
When I lived in Pierre, Mad Mary's had good steak. There was a Chinese restaurant downtown that was also good and was reasonable. Zesto's had excellent ice cream and the flavor of the day was interesting. I liked the lemon and cherry flavored soft serve ice cream.

I live like 4 blocks from Zesto's. In March it can be a blizzard and bitter cold and there is still a line of people getting ice cream.
The downtown chinese place down town is well not the cleanest place. That is too bad too. The lunch buffet is usually good eating. And the tea is also good drinking.
About 3 years ago the Humane society moved in next door to the aforementioned chinese place.

there's a chinese place in Madison, SD that is very good. The variety isn't huge, but what they do have is delicious. Opens at 11 on weekdays, 1130 on sundays.. worth a try if you happen to pass through Lake County.

HuHot has good food, but like with many eating establishments, the alcohol is expensive. The nice thing is that Sioux Falls has a ton of eating places to try out. I wish that it had a Red Robin, Bob Evans, and a Steak N Shake.
As for fast food, I like Sonic or Wendy's. Although I do not frequent those places as much as I did in years past, I do not mind fast food.
What places do you think have good chicken in good old Sioux Falls? As for me, I think that Bob's, Hy-Vee, and Pizza Ranch have good chicken.

HuHot is VERY yummy, although their health scores (available on the city's website) scare me a little.
I'm not a huge fried chicken person. I have had chicken from the Keg, both at the west side location and one time they catered at my work. The time I ate it at work, a few people (including me) got sick from it. But the time I ate at the Keg on 57th & Marion was awesome... The chicken was so good, and the service was great.
I never had Hy-Vee's chicken. I've tried some of their take-home Chinese though. It was pretty good.
I've never eaten Bob's chicken, but I want to. I've heard rave reviews for it. Also their new location has more seating area, so that's tempting me even more.
Has anyone tried Tomacelli's Pizza in Sioux Falls. I LOVE their pizza, and they have so many different options for toppings.
