That is what I was thinking. Dude from all of us west of the river please try to articulate yourself a bit better please.

There is nothing wrong with Fort Pierre.

LOL Good posts ashnat and rjl78.

I can't stand when people use bad grammar/spelling. One of those pet peeves I guess.

Fort Pierre is a good town... I haven't been through there in about 2 years.

I haven't been to enough South Dakota towns to pick a least favorite, but I know it's not Chamberlain. And I even spent most of a week there with my car broke down and snowed in with -40F wind chills! And to top it off, I had the flu!

But my late wife often mentioned the first time she travelled through Chamberlain headed for Wyoming. She said when she topped the crest of the hill and saw the Missouri and the rolling plains beyond it, she instantly fell in love with the West. She said the beauty of it made tears start streaming down her cheeks.

I think about that every time I take the same route. I don't know of another place in the U.S. that defines the Midwest from the West with such stark contrast -- from the flat farm land east of Chamberlain to the rolling prairies west of it. And it's all divided by that glorious river. It's quite a sight, especially at certain times of the day when the sun is low in the sky and casts long shadows.

Hmmmm, trying to think of one... Well I give up, been to quite a few of the towns in South Dakota, from the largest to smallest and if it wasn't the smallest it was close.

Pretty much always seen a welcoming smile and a good cup of coffee. So I just don't have a least favorite town in South Dakota.

Most of South Dakota is a great place to live and work. As I've mentioned before, the people are friendy, the scenery is awsome, and the outdoor activities can't be better anywhere else. However, there's one place in SD I'd never recommend anyone visit...Stay clear of the Pine Ridge area! I won't go into details, but if anyone wants to know why this area is no good, talk to the residents of the northern Nebraska panhandle.
