I was out of town for a few days, and just got back to Sioux Falls... Just thought I would post a thread about my travels... By the way, this might be a long post, so if you like reading

... Maybe this is better for a blog...?
I traveled up I-29 to Highway 12 (Summit)... Anyone ever stop at the Coffee Cup Fuel Stop in Summit? It's always busy! I saw some of the wind damage that was done by a storm a few weeks ago... I saw whole trees ripped up and buildings demolished, especially near the Webster/Waubay area I couldn't believe it.
I arrived in Aberdeen... Things there are pretty much the same as when I went there before. A new Super Wal-Mart was built...and along with that brought a lot of new businesses to the east side... Also read in their local paper that the housing permits were way up. With that success, I saw some downsides... Drivers in Aberdeen are SLOW.
I drove up to my parent's... a town of a little over 200 people. When I was growing up there, the town had a gas station, grocery store, library, a cafe/diner, 2 bars, post office, and the elementary/high school.
When I visited this past weekend, the only things remaining open were the grocery store, library, post office and the school. The grocery store is on the verge of closing. It's sad. The nearest gas station from my parents is 12 miles away (in North Dakota).
I left, and decided to take a bit of a detour... I like exploring the back roads. I drove south on State Highway 45 out of Ipswich. The rain got insanely heavy. I had to pull over.. about 10 minutes. I continued on... the rain continued (all the way to SF in fact). The clouds overhead looked horrible... I switched off my CD, and tuned in to the radio... I found out that there was a Tornado Warning for Hand & Hyde County.
I arrived in Miller (Elk Hunter better be reading), and stopped at the gas station on the north side of town...I filled up, and an elderly man and the gas station worker were discussing the tornado warnings. The elderly man said he's been through 12 tornadoes and another one won't hurt him!
I'm a little worried, but I'm traveling south, so I'm hoping I'll get out of it!
I travel Highway 45... I see so many abandoned farm houses.
I arrive at Kimball, and get on I-90... That's when it gets bad... Rain, rain, and more rain... I slow down to 55-60. Everyone passes me... Seriously, you can't see out of windshield, and you drive 75... Amazes me.
It's so bad just west of Mitchell (Jammie!), I pull off the first exit... I follow the "Business Loop" through the city... and I was surprised that the streets weren't flooding! I finally end up at a gas station near the east exit of Mitchell and sit there for about 20 minutes to "wait out the rain".
I get back on I-90, and I still stay at 55-60 mph. I pass a HP in Hanson County, and he nabbed a guy... Probably "over driving the road conditions".
Once in McCook County, the rain subsides... and eventually I arrive at SF!
