The thing is with the exception of one area (Lakota Homes) race is rarely an isolating factor. There is no inner city. One area that is not as desirable to live.
A visit to Pine Ridge, and some of the other resvarations will open your eyes to a lot of things. Pine Ridge is one of the thoughest places to visit. Its a whole different feeling.
Now you get to visiting with some of folks there are some who are caring kind, warm. Usually when I was heading down to Pine Ridge it was usually in a great big fire truck or a rescue truck, I am sure that might have had some sort of influence on how things turned out.
In all honesty Pikie until you expirence it first hand, ones perspective might be somewhat clouded or skewed.
Its nothing like the deep south in the late 50s or early 60s but there has been tention for the last 200 years. There are very few racially motivated crimes. There is tention to a certain extent.
The reservations have their own goverment, and a certain amount of soverinty. (sp)
