Harmony Heights is also a very nice complex. It is on the northern edge of town, but it's on the west side of the 'dividing range' so it's in a nicer area. The dividing range is a small range of mountains that divide Rapid City in half. There are a lot of townhomes and senior living homes being built out by Harmony Heights. That general area is called Fountain Springs. It also has really nice views of the Black Hills, but the drive is not that convenient and you will have somewhat of a commute to get places. You also go through an industrial area to get to it.

Here are some pictures I took at Fountain Springs Golf Course:

That last pic is AMAZING! wow...
My DH's describing the same things on the phone, and these pics make me feel closer to him like I'm getting to see maybe some of the same things he's seen today. He says RC's such a nice, clean place, very neat - and the scenery - ! -

Picture fireworks in the sky of the first pictures posted. Close to downtown, they do fireworks for the 4th every year, and the view is AMAZING from where he took that pic (near the apt your dh looked at).
If you live at Harmony heights, you need an apt on the west side. If you get the east side, the apt butts right up to a mountain and you won't see much. (but you'll be up close and personal with deer and other wildlife)

Congrat's ! I have to say that my whole family is really jealous. We have been wanting to move to Rapid City for a long time. We visit a few times a year and really hope one day to find a job and move there too. Unfortunately there seems to be little work for me in my line of work (Aerospace/Aviation). And your right, everyone that we have met in Rapid City was really nice.
We are actually visiting again in November.
