There are lots of other threads filled with information. Check them out.
But I'll start. There are things I like about Rapid, and things I Hate about Rapid. I attribute some of the dislikes because I moved here from a metro area. I won't go into everything, as I've said enough on the other threads

What do you want to know about Rapid City? I've lived here 19 years so I can tell you pretty much anything you'd like to know. We have a lot of other members from Rapid City and the Black Hills too. Be a little more specific. Also, browse other posts!

One of the few questions I can answer is the last one. It could be quite difficult to find a job starting at $13 an hour. I'd say that within eight years of being at the same place (like you've been now), that'd be about right, but starting wage may be more like $8.

Have you looked into maybe transferring to the Office Depot in Rapid City?
The two main cell phone providers are Alltel and Verizon.

jobs at $13 an hour are nonexistent unless you are a nurse or something. Retail starts around $7 an hour here. (I work at Target) I transferred with Target tho, so kept my pay from a metro. Maybe you should look into transferring with Office Depot. This is considered a "small town" so pay is very low here. BUT cost of living is cheap. Property taxes are CHEAP, the higher up on the Hills the more they are, but still CHEAP compared to metro's. To license your car, a whopping $42 a Year.

schools, I've posted many times on here that I'm not happy with them. Elementary teaches to nclb so the kids are not as far as other cities I've lived in. The school system does not believe in spelling tests, we use word "studies" and because kids will grow up using computers with spell check, leanring how to spell is not focused on. They do a lot of reading and math, because many schools did not pass in those areas with nclb. Many schools are on "warnings".

Other threads have also said over and over, stay away from the north central part of Rapid City. Don't live there and don't go to school there.
The best schools are on the west side of town.
Alltel, verizon, I can't think of any other cell's off the top of my head.

The housing prices are extremely lower here than other parts of the country.
