Thanks for the nice compliments everyone.

blackhillsdream...My camera is a very simple Polaroid i733 digital. It's my first digital (yes, I'm behind the times ) and I bought it just 2 weeks before we went to the Black Hills. I am very happy with the quality of the photos.

septoaine_queen...We were there Sept. 12-18. The weather was perfect for us, 60's and 70's during the day. It rained the first night we were in Spearfish, but the rest of the week was gorgeous.

DannyBanany...Yes, we hiked to Harney Peak!! It was a first for us and we loved it. We were both surprised at how wide the trail is. Not sure we will make the trek again (we are 50 and 54), but then again, there were folks older than us up there, so who knows!

septocaine, Have a great time! I'm jealous. I only live 340 miles or so from Rapid City, and I miss the scenery so much.

Yeah, we are so stoked. I am trying to figure out what to pack. Is it sweater weather yet? I don't know if I own too many sweaters, but will get them if needed. It is usually too hot to wear sweaters in San Diego for long periods of time even in winter. We are flying in to Rapid City on Thursday. Where did you eat?

Here is a link for the weather for Rapid City (7 day forecast):
Weather Forecast for Rapid City, Spearfish, Custer and the Badlands
The weather is looking good for your trip!
I'm not sure about the eating places in Rapid, but I'm sure Danny and a few others can help you with that.

Ellsworth approach will vector you for a flyby of MT Rushmore... Or they used to. I don't know if in the post 911 era they allow that.

Hey pilot, what kind of plane do you fly?

MJ1986,
The weather looks better than what we have in San Diego right now. Tank tops it is!! Right now it is cool (low 70's) with a huge marine layer here and chances are I won't see the sun today.

Just remember that a sweater may come in handy at night. Last week we hit 90 degrees in Rapid City and the night before it got down below freezing!

Will you be eating in Rapid City or the Black Hills? I could point you to some choice restaurants if you are interested!
