I filled up for $19.20 today! Amazing! $1.59 a gallon. I never thought gas would be this low again. I know it will go back up, but I would be happy to have it stay between $2.25 and $2.50.

I went down to Omaha today on my day off and paid $1.59 a gallon in Council Bluffs (which I about did cartwheels paying that price) . On the way back, I paid $1.69 at the Coffee Cup in Vermillion and seen it posted $1.69 at the Elk Point gas stations and $1.64 at the North Sioux City stations. Many stations in Omaha and its neighboring communities were around $1.62 to $1.79. I went to Lincoln to visit a person I know and stoped at a station on I-80 in Omaha to strech my legs. They were charging $1.79 , and I did not buy gas there. Quite a few stations right off of I-80 in Nebraska charge a dime or two more than other stations in town and in more competitive areas where there are multiple stations.
Unfortunately, my mileage was crappy due to bucking the wind, but the prices are low (so if I get my normal mileage, it would not have made that much of a difference anyhow-maybe five dollars during the trip). The trip cost me under $30 (including going to Lincoln), when it would have easily cost me $60-$70 last summer. Considering the wind, I should not complain. At least it was not snowy, icy, and/or $4 gas.

Well we finally hit under 2 bucks a gallon up here. 1.99 a gallon. I don't get why its not falling as fast up here in Harding COunty. Not sure if they still have the high priced stuff in the tanks or they think we are oblivious to the world around us and the lower prices everywhere else.

My guess is that isolated places charge more with transporation (being away from oil terminals, etc.) and not having the volume that places such as Sioux Falls and Rapid City have and still using the higher priced fuel. I was living in Harding County, I would have similar thoughts in that regard.

I wonder what those folks did with all those very old pumps that only went up to 3.99 after it went to 4 dollars a gallon. I wonder if they replaced them with new pumps, and now are sorry. What about those car deals where they guarentee 2.99 a gallon for 3 years. Those folks must be wishing they had taken a better deal off the car instead.
In reality, I don't beleive for a moment that this will last long. Give it another 2 months and prices are going to be going back up.

As long as the world economy is in a crisis, Oil will be in a crisis, and hopefully when the world economy bounces back, oil won't. Trust me, we have learned are lesson, now all the rich people want fuel efficient cars instead of gas guzzlers.
