Well, I sure hope it works. He did select some people who have pretty bright minds and that in itself says something about Obama himself. Guess we'll have to wait and see, but hopefully they can improve things a bit.

Well so far the only thing that bothers me about all this is the, not sure if this is the right word, Headlines.

TRANSITION TO/OF POWER.

I just don't feel comfortable with that type of a headline, I would prefer something more along the lines of Transition of Leadership, or something along those lines. Just makes me feel uncomfortable.

Well, it's a big change. This is certain to be a roller coaster ride. Personally, I think using words like POWER rather than leadership is media hype to continue to pre-sell us on the idea of putting a person with the power to change things in office. It may also be a slight on Bush; i.e. he either has no power, or hasn't used it wisely... It will be interesting to see how the "first 100 days" in office report comes out.

BHD:

Alright, I'll answer, and I did see your question (concerns).
Why no Obama celebration?: I was in RAP too, voted, but accepted where I was at, even though I wanted to go downtown and do something wildly crazy (not take my shirt off)!! The Dems were partying at some hotel, but it didn't change that I was surrounded by NRAer's, and diehard self-righteous types.

Why do all the haters (perceived) like Obama? First I suggest you read his bio: "Dreams from my Father" which reads just like the man walks and talks.
He's extremely smart (Michelle thinks so too), unlike our last 8 years (GW) where as someone said (Peggy Noonan): "it's like we've awaken from a bad Rip Van Winkle dream like state."

I asked a RAP cabdriver (retired Navy officer) why all the "dumb" (Obama's word during his campaign for Iraq) wars were started by Texans, and his answer: "because they like to fight." I'm glad I'm alive in the age of Obama, to see him take us from this 'payback' mode of politics (8 years of GW for 8 years of Bill Clinton, with historic vindication today, of the freed journalists in N. Korea).
Hope this helps with your 'dreams' in the BH, and thanks for your post.

You shoulda came down to that hotel! It was a lot of fun! And what a great sight this morning on the news to see those two journalists reunited with their families. However, they did admit that they overstepped bounds while they were in North Korea.

What's wrong with "NRA'ers"? I'm not a member, but I do have guns and I probably should be.

And as for adding "diehard self-righteous types" to the same sentence, I don't get it? "Self-righteousness (also called sententiousness) is a feeling of smug moral superiority derived from a sense that one's beliefs, actions, or affiliations are of greater virtue than those of the average person." I don't think that applies to "NRA'ers", but maybe that's not what you meant. I don't think NRA members feel superior to any average person, I think they just want to be left alone (with their guns)...

I don't have a lot to say about Obama, but I will say this, he seems to love to blame others (of course Bush in general) for where we are. Since when has placing blame ever solved a problem. Blame does not tell you why a problem happened, it just says "this is not my fault"... Truly finding out why a problem happend in an effort to stop repeating the mistake, has little to do with who's fault it was, even more so if that person is no longer in office. I'm not saying he should take any responsibility for things he may not have been involved in, but he should quit the blame game.

by the way, where did he get the money to go to an Ivy League School?

"Scholarships, grants, and hard work???", sure...

My nephew has a scholarship, works, and was almost always on the deans list. It's not that easy. We as a family are all pulling together to figure out how to fund his second year in college, because the student loans are not being approved. 5 of us have tried to co-sign, nada... My credit score is over 720, still nothing.

This is not however "State Related" so, in keeping with that, any NRA members in SD? If so, how do you feel about legislating guns away in SD? It's been asked elsewhere, but are shooting sports popular in SD? Where are the gun ranges in and around Rapid City?
