Well, here's where I'm coming from on this. There have been several people who have been interested in moving to So. Dak. and sometimes it's because they think they can have all the freedom and make the rules here and that's just not the case. We are not a territory and we're a fully organized, occupied state with laws.

One example~quite a while back, someone was interested in our state because of our predominantly white population. I happened to bump into some of his postings in other areas of the forum. My gosh!!! You'd have thought our state is full of white supremacists the way he was talking. That person will not fit in any area of our state.

To me, it seems more like you're running away from something rather then running TO something. There's absolutely nothing wrong with relocating and I know you love the Hills area. But many things won't change for you. You will probably get a lower wage which in turn will wipe out the lower cost of living, etc. You'll find that we're friendly, but we aren't doormats. You'll learn that we also have laws and everyone must abide by them. Now I'm not insinuating that you're dumb because you are definitely not. I'm just saying that throughout time I've seen your unhappiness with each location you've lived in and I question whether moving up here will change things. Granted, you're still in the same state you started out in and that may be the problem. But don't choose our state because you want to carry a gun. We aren't ALL gun lovers. We respect the right to bear arms, but we're not gun fanatics and that's what I'm thinking you are saying. We are just as civilized here as it is in Fla. There are no gunfights in the streets. We don't bow down to people who are carrying guns, etc. Just be sure that you're moving here for the right reasons or it won't work out.

In a past post you said it sounded like I wasn't even from Rapid City because of my "socialist" views. Well, thanks. I stand out I guess.
My Rifle is a .308. It's semi automatic. There are hunting rifles that match that description. Shotguns too. It's an assault weapon primarily because of the way it looks. Many pistols are semi automatic too. Do I need a 50 caliber anti tank weapon or a warhead, of course not. that's just being silly. It is foolish to think that all of the "Obama is going to take our guns away" hype is accurate. It's equally foolish to discard it all as hype... The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Let's limit everyone to owning guns that hold only one bullet at a time, and limit the amount of ammo you can own, would that make you happy? Sure it would, me on the other hand, I see nothing wrong with my rifle, but a single shot, bolt action rifle could kill someone at a distance just as easily.

As for the second part, I don't think I ever said that about you? You might be thinking of someone else? If I did, I probably said it about one of your views, it would not have been a personal comment. That's the beauty of opinions (as long as we're still allowed to have them). We don't have to agree on everything. Making the leap from my silly, single rifle to saying "what's next warheads?" is just not valid and reasonable. You can do better than that...

I'm sure there are many semi-auto AR-15 owners in SD that use them to hunt varmints with. Should we take those away from them because you say so?

Bet this thread is just about ready to be locked...

Moderator cut: You're correct and you can scream "favortism" all you want. This topic has nothing to do with South Dakota. It has more to do with harassing other members.
