KMEG is Sioux City/Elk Point/Yankton. Occasionally you might be able to get KMEG near or south of Beresford depending on if the KMEG signal is stronger than KELO.

Seriously, the news stations here are pretty amusing. I wonder if they have someone dedicated to doing the hair and makeup of some of the women news anchors ?? If so, they should be fired immediately. I really don't watch the local news for anything more than the weather. If I was from here, I might take a greater interest in some of the reported news. Sorry but it's just hard to sit and watch a news report of how the local bus drivers clip their finger nails and expect me to believe this is "breaking news" !!! Oh yeah, stop with the zoom in close ups of the foregead of the people they are interviewing !!!

I have to agree that ALL of the news stations here leave a bit to be desired.... not really top notch if you ask me, but hey I am sure not going to complain about some small issue being "big news" - I would much rather that be the top story rather then murders and rapes every night like in some metro areas.....

The news in Rapid City is always the same. Some follow up on a trial that started years ago then straight into the United Way Annual Bake Sale. It's pretty amusing to say the least. I agree, it's a relief compared to the news in big cities. I like to watch the news in big cities because it's astonishing how different it is from news here. When I was in Las Vegas there was a domestic murder, a baby found in a dumpster, and multiple robberies. YIKES!

Yea, I hear ya. The last time we were in Fla., there was a 15 year old boy standing at the end of his driveway waiting for his school bus. People drove by and threw gas all over him. Fortunately, he thought fast and ran to his house before they could light him on fire.

THEN there was someone driving around the countryside shooting horses.

There was more, but you get the idea. Not to say we're crime free here cause we do have some nasty stuff at times and vacationers may be shocked to see that we do have some crime here.

But on the original topic~we generally watch Kelo. It really is kind of funny how all the channels have this big "Breaking news". Even the national channels are funny. Yesterday they broke into the ONE little soap opera I watch just to show that GW and Barack met at the White House. It definitely was news and interesting to see, BUT having to break into a show??? It couldn't wait until the 6 pm news?

The Sioux Falls stations are a little cheesy, but always have quite the characters for weatherpeople. I can remember one in particular who is with KELO for a decade that was very comical to watch. He gets exited too easily and I sometimes had a chuckle when he was on air. He is on air with KSFY now.

KELO is my favorite, KSFY is OK, and KDLT has some room for improvement. From what I remember, the Sioux City and Rapid City stations are not as good as KELO and KSFY. I sometimes watch KSFY when I get tired of KELO.

I think that the newstation in Omaha and Twin Cities are more professional. The ones in Des Moines are similar to Sioux Falls but a little more professional in my opinion.

On my cable channel, I get KTIV of Sioux City on my cable channel lineup. They are OK but are not as interesting as the news coming from Sioux Falls or Omaha.

I agree that not having anything nad to report is a nice thing. When I was stationed in San Antonio and working in the emergency room, I could watch the local news before going into work and knew what I was going to see. The Army hospital there had a contract with the city to see civilians and was a level 1 trauma center. We got all the gangbangers that like to shoot, stab, and beat each other... Can't say as I really miss that either. BRING ON THE NAIL CLIPPINGS !!!
