Default moving to SD for job...need advice

I live in Michigan. (maybe that is enuf said). My husband is in layoff for 3 weeks from his auto job. When he returns to his job, it may or may not pick back up. I have a 24 hour a week job, pays minimum wage. People around here are starting to cut and run. We went online searching for a job. We found a possible job location in Huron area in SD through manpower. It would be a permanent job if he gets hired. Either way, things go the way they are now, we may still come to South Dakota and try to find something. All we have is an RV we would need to live out of...yes, even in the winter. Winter weather is no stranger to us, so it shouldn't be a problem. The only thing is where to stay. We will still have bills on us from Michigan...esp a house. No one wants to buy. Not sure if I should turn in the keys to the bank. Either way, we want to head to SD. It is such a beautiful location and I was told jobs are plentiful. But this is my biggest problem. Where to park the RV that is cheap to free. Even if I had to work for my stay.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Oh gosh, I wish I had an answer for you. Maybe you could check out the Plainsman. That's the newspaper for Huron. OR you could ask the company that may employ your husband.

Debey goes to Huron on ocassion so hopefully she'll have more solid info for you. I really wish you luck because I've heard the economy over there isn't good. There are jobs here and if you don't find anything in Huron, you could try Sioux Falls or Rapid City.

Just curious~won't everything freeze up in an RV during the wintertime or how do you prevent that?

Here is a link for the Plainsman, but their ''free'' online version is not very impressive........

It might be worth your while to look at the Gillette area for jobs. That job market has been strong the last few years. The pay is excellent.

I spent the 11 years in Huron, not much there anymore. A better bet would be Sioux Falls. MUCH better job market, regardless of what you do for a living. Also, I don't know of anywhere in Huron that you could park an RV long-term.
