That is so neat to see yet another member with such a positive attitude. How ironic that you mentioned the year 2012~it's often prophesied as being a very special year for our planet. Even though it all confuses me, there's probably some huge changes that will occur.
Unfortunately, CitiBank laid a few more people off in Sx. Falls today. It seems like the economy over there will be able to give those people more employment and the Gov. said that the state is ready to help them. Just kinda disappointing that we're starting to feel just a bit of what many other states are going through.

We will to a certain extent feel the same effects. But SD has more than one industry sustaining its economy. So while one sector might be down others will along to sustain us.

This article in the Rapid City Journal about the credit card business in South Dakota gives cause to pause and think about what might happen to jobs: Rapid City Journal | News » Top | Fed rules could cost South Dakota thousands of jobs

Jammie, 2012 is also supposed to be the end of the world as we know it according to the Mayan Calendar. Sorry to but a damper on ya LOL.
Now, the end of the world as we know it does not necessarily mean global destruction, it could mean a many of things that could also be positive.

That's exactly what I was referring to. I'm fascinated by that and never fully understood what it was all about. There are articles that dispute that the Mayan calendar actually ends then~just an end to an era. I doubt those articles, but the end of the calendar must mean something. Maybe it'll just be the end of the world as we know it????
OK so now 50 more people are out of work in Watertown because of the fire. BUT they interviewed the owner last night and he said those people built his company for him and they WILL receive paychecks. They're already scrambling to find office space, production space, etc. until they can get another building up and going. A bit of negative news there, but a little positive with it.

Hopefully, we can put the partisanship and bickering behind and be able to move industry to the point where it does not adversely affect our environment and allow use to sustain our society but on a greener side. Just like reading the book of Revelations in the bible, people naturally think that it is doom and gloom. But it offers hope, based on what I have learned in church.
Glass half full or half empty, I would choose the first one. Thinking positive will help.

Well until we start working together and doing things in the Name of HUMANITY and not the all mighty dollar I'm afraid it will never happen. One of the biggest problems of today is the fact that the all mighty dollar rules everything (and that damn 3 digit credit score number ya got too).
I love how the Freecredit report dot com now is running a commercial now that basically says that falling in love isn't enough unless they have a good credit score. I am so damn sick and tired of them commercials making everyone think that. My Gawd if I had checked my wifes credit score or she checked mine before we got married we would never have had the chance to be married almost 11 years now. Our Credit still ins't the greatest in the world but its ok, and ya know what, I'm not on this world to make the credit reporting agencies happy, I'm here to make myself and family happy, so they can take their freee report and shove it straight where the SUN DON"T SHINE lol.

Manufacturer makes cuts |* The Daily Republic *| Mitchell, South Dakota
Ok, this would be a good time for the Gov. to really work on bringing in the businesses he was referring to several months ago. He said our unemployment rate is so low that businesses hesitate relocating here for fear there wouldn't be enough of a work force. Maybe it's time he looks into that?
On the flip side, there's an interesting article in the paper today about a man being caught and in major trouble for hiring illegals. Too bad some other parts of the country aren't going after them the way our law enforcement does.

Freecreditreport.com is not free. I tried their offer, and in order to get 1 free report, you have to sign up for a $14.95 monitoring service, and it's almost impossible to cancel.I agree with you, those are the dumbest commercials ever.Yes,you're right...family is everything, nothing else matters!
Jammie
I was shocked by the fact that some companies are afraid to relocate there because of low unemployment...that makes sense. It's terrible that from a business standpoint, low unemployment is a bad thing.

Yes, it was in newspaper articles a few months ago. But I'm just wondering if that isn't changing now because of several lay-offs. At this point, it sounds like there are still jobs for everyone, but our state govt. needs to keep ahead of the game.
